Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA), the representative of Ikorodu Cobstituuecy II, Lagos State House of Assembly, has assured sporting stakeholders and residents of his constituency, especially those in Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCD), that the collapsed Mini – Stadium at Ipakan in Ijede, will be rehabilitated and ready to host 2027 edition of his annual AMA Unity All Stars Championship.
AMA gave the assurance at the press conference and draw which heralded the 3rd edition of the AMA Unity Cup Championship held at AMA Hotel & Suites, Abule – Eko, Ijede, on Saturday, while responding to THE IMPACT on his plans to further develop sports infrastructures.
Recall that the roof of the stadium constructed by the Lagos State Government beside the lagoon at Ipakan, was blown off by heavy storm in 2014, before its commissioning and since then has been abandoned with facilities like the indoor Hall, basketball and lawn tennis courts among others located within it, rotten away.
The state lawmaker made the announcement while unveiling his grand plans for development of sports infrastructures in Ikorodu Constituuecy II.
”It is only if I am not sincere to myself and the people in the constituency that I am representing that I will say the Igbogbo sports arena is enough going by the volume of sporting engagements going on and interests of youths.
”There is also Ijede stadium which has not been put into use due to heavy storm that collapsed it. I am very confident that before this time next year, work would have been completed and ready for use.
”It will also be part of the venues for the AMA championship next year”.
While thanking THE IMPACT reporter for bringing up the issue which he said re-awakened his spirit to further focus on developing sports infrastructures, AMA also assured of readiness of the stadium facilitated by Rep. Babajimi Benson in Ibeshe and other initiatives.
” I am confident that before this time next year, the sporting area facilitated by my boss, Hon. Babajimi Benson, would also be ready and it will also be an added venue for our competitions.
”I am also working with the state government to make use of the vast land in Luwasa Secondary School, ljede, to build another sports complex to serve our young ones.
”This will accommodate indoor sports which are also calling for attentions.
”Thank you for reawaken my spirit with your questions towards the actualization of my plans to improve sports infrastructures in my constituency”, he said .
The representative of Ikorodu Constituuecy II also lauded council chairmen in his constituency for their complimentary work which he said are also contributing to the development of sports infrastructures.
